Doktorandrådet (DoR)

WHAT IS DOR?

The Doctoral Council (DoR) exists for Sahlgrenska Academy's research students and is tasked with monitoring the quality of the research education and working for the rights of doctoral students at the academy.

The members of DoR consist of doctoral students from Sahlgrenska Academy's departments and a trustee-elected working committee that functions as the council's board. Doctoral council meetings are open to all doctoral students and we welcome more people to get involved in DoR to influence the situation and future of doctoral students, and participate in various projects.

DoR is basically always in need of more active members - the more people who get involved, the more we can do! Are you interested in research, education, ethics, internationalization, the academy's organization, leadership, work environment, communication or project planning? Don't hesitate, get in touch!

DOR'S ACTIVITIES

DoR affects the situation for doctoral students, among other things, by having representatives in the councils where research and research education are concerned, such as the Council for Research Education (FUR), the Council for Research Affairs (FOR) and the Sahlgrenska Academy's board . DoR also has representatives in Gothenburg University's Doctoral Committee (GUDK) and the academy's various departmental councils. In this way, we can be involved and influence on a broad basis.

DoR has organized a doctoral student day with the aim of increasing cooperation and networking between the academy's doctoral students and to support their future careers. Examples of other issues that DoR has pursued are research into doctoral students' working environment, employment for doctoral students from day one, and that all doctoral students must have the opportunity to teach as part of their doctoral education, issues that have been raised in both FUR and the academy board.

DO YOU WANT TO JOIN? It is important that the voice of doctoral students is heard at Sahlgrenska Academy and we wish that more people want to be involved and influence. Doctoral students who participate in DoR's work and take on positions of trust are entitled to compensation in the form of extension days, regardless of how the doctoral student's training place is financed (GU employee or collaborative doctoral student).

Involvement in DoR gives you valuable experience of leadership and the organization of the academy, and a wide network of PhD students, researchers and colleagues from across the faculty.

DOCTORAL COMMITTEES (DK)

DoR works to start up and support doctoral student committees at each institution. Currently, there are active doctoral student committees in the Institutes of Biomedicine, the Department of Nursing and Health Sciences, the Department of Clinical Sciences, and the Department of Medicine and Odontology. To get up-to-date contact information for the committee at your institution or to get support in setting up a committee, contact DoR.

PhD - Lunch Seminars

DoR-AU invites all PhD students to 30-minute lunch seminars specifically for PhD students. During these lunch seminars, we will invite established researchers who will give their best tips on how to improve your time as a PhD student as well as career tips for the upcoming time after your PhD studies.

All lunch seminars will be held during lunch between  12:15 and 12:45 on site and through Zoom . For each and every lunch seminar, there will be one invited researcher who starts with a 15-minute presentation of their topic. Then there will be 15 minutes left for questions from the audience. DoR-AU will moderate these sessions.
